MAW was awarded the outdoor undergraduate sculpture competition in 2012. The work Campsite had three distinct stages. The first stage of the piece featured the campsite uncoloured, showing the raw material of the concrete used in the construction. The second stage featured the campsite brandishing vibrant slogans spray-painted on, like pre-pubescent doodles in a sketchbook they articulated fleeting focus, satire and general mistrust in authority. The final stage exaggerates the vandalism of our own work, and the performative destruction of the site ensues leaving colourful rubble of a once colourless completed work.
