NEW SHIT is the title of a culminating exhibition which took place after a month long residency in the small town of Cholula, Puebla, Mexico. MAW Collective, along with several other Montreal based artists, were invited to inhabit an open concrete space made available to them by the family run tortilla mill that it was attached to. Here they were to work, live, and share with local artists and creative minds. Some of the works include stray dog piñatas made from off-cuts of Audi leather car seats, and punching bags sewn out of the iconic fabrics used locally as table coverings. The final exhibition included both the Canadian artists as well as locals, exhibiting an array of playful works reflecting on a stay that focused on cultural conversation and exchange.
